Mission Statement
TISA Mission Statement

TISA seeks to provide a high quality well-balanced educational programme to its diverse student body in accordance with the universally recognised educational principles, practices and beliefs of the International Baccalaureate Organization. Our Mission is to prepare our students for higher education, to enable them to become life long learners and positive contributors to their local and global communities.

Our Philosophy

TISA aims to develop a friendly and supportive atmosphere linking students, parents and staff into a team with clear educational priorities. Our fundamental aim is to provide an academically and socially well-balanced education of a high standard for our international student body.

We seek to develop the individual potential of each child and to promote confidence and self-respect through the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of school life. Our educational environment encourages the pursuit of truth and values through the development of critical thinking skills and fosters a spirit of learning and inquiry, which will continue throughout each student’s life. The school is committed to the spirit of international education and aims to create a coherent and caring school community, which emphasizes respect for individual and cultural diversity.

Our Aims

In order to fulfil our Mission and Philosophy, we will:
  • Develop in our students the attributes of the Learner Profile.
  • Develop in our students the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and concepts required to prepare them for the next stage in their education.
  • Provide learning experiences that are appropriate to a student’s age and stage of development.
  • Encourage students to develop the skills necessary for independent learning, successful problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Foster a caring and safe learning environment that stimulates curiosity, freedom of expression, fairness and respect for others.
  • Encourage the development of the whole student by promoting creativity, action and community service.
  • Develop each student’s ability to communicate effectively in the language of instruction, while continuing to respect the importance of the child’s home language.
  • Develop citizens of the world while building and reinforcing students’ sense of identity as well as cultural and environmental awareness within a framework of universal human values.
  • Promote positive reciprocal relationships with other schools, organizations and institutions in Baku and Azerbaijan.
  • Ensure effective teaching and learning by encouraging diversity and flexibility in pedagogical approaches and by recruiting and developing skilled and committed teaching staff.
  • Use technology to enhance the delivery, quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning.
  • Inform and involve parents in all aspects of their child’s educational and encourage active parental participation.
  • Provide appropriate forms of assessment and international benchmarking.
  • Continue to improve the school’s learning environment, facilities and resources.

IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

IB Learner Profile

The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognising their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.

IB learners strive to be:

Inquirers: They develop their natural curiosity. They acquire the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research and show independence in learning. They actively enjoy learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives.
Knowledgeable: They explore concepts, ideas and issues that have local and global significance. In so doing, they acquire in-depth knowledge and develop understanding across a broad and balanced range of disciplines.
Thinkers: They exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognise and approach complex problems, and make reasoned, ethical decisions.
