Learning Support at TISA
Learning Support is provided for students who experience learning difficulties and need support in mainstream class. This support may be in small groups, in class or pull out and long term or short term. The focus is on specific learning challenges in all aspects of their academic areas.
Intervention is designed to:
- meet individual learning needs and styles
- ensure full access to the curriculum
- develop the student’s ability to be an independent learner
- remove barriers to learning
Students are referred on entry if a need has been identified at a previous school. After entry at TISA, teachers can make referrals to the Learning Support department. Following this referral observation, assessment and diagnosis of the student is carried out. If support is required Individual Education Plans (IEPs) are established. These include targets/goals for the student. These targets are reviewed with the student, teachers and the parent twice a year.
