Music
Music at TISA is taught from M1 – M5. At present, there is no Post-16 course for music, although many IB students continue to participate in extra-curricular music activities.

The MYP Music Curriculum has been designed to encourage and challenge all students, regardless of their musical experience and expertise. The course is practical, with students learning to sing, and play a range of classroom instruments, whilst simultaneously developing core foundation skills and understandings of music theory and history from around the world.

Using the MYP approach to designing, creating and evaluating work, students work independently and in small-groups to create and perform a wide-variety of musical styles. Typical unit topics offered throughout the program include: African music, music of the Caribbean, world fusion, the blues, European classical music, and more. Students also have regular opportunities to work with their peers in drama and art, creating performances that combine all art forms.

Students are assessed on their understanding of the musical style, the choices that they make in applying the techniques, their reflections on the learning and artistic processes and on how they approach the practical work.

All secondary music classes are taught by Emma Burns.
