Welcome to the Secondary School
Message from the Head of Secondary

Welcome to the TISA Secondary School Website. Whether you are an existing member of our school community, thinking about joining TISA, or browsing our Website we invite you to explore the site further and familiarize yourself with our educational environment that is committed to the spirit of internationalism and academic excellence.

Integral to our philosophy is the recognition that students require an education that acknowledges the uniqueness of each student and promotes personal and academic excellence, tolerance and responsibility. TISA students have the opportunity to learn more about themselves and the world around them, to develop new skills and form lasting friendships. This is achieved through the provision of a challenging curriculum that develops critical thinking and emphasizes the personal and academic excellence promoted at TISA.

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP)

This is an internationally recognized programme designed to meet the educational requirements of students between the ages of 11 and 16 years. At TISA, the MYP builds and strengthens the foundation of learning and skills from the Primary Years Programme and prepares students for the IB Diploma Programme. MYP helps students develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need to participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world.

The Post 16 Programme

Students have three options: The IB Diploma Track, The IB Diploma Course Track or the TISA Graduation Track. All three tracks allow students to qualify for the TISA High School Diploma as long as they satisfy the requirements of graduation. The Post-16 Programme is a highly respected academic programme, recognized by colleges and universities in a myriad of countries on six continents. The Diploma is the most demanding of the three options in terms of student motivation and commitment, class and independent study time, study skills and application. In this respect, all students are expected, with guidance, to choose a programme which works towards graduation and provides the opportunity for optimum academic excellence. Students at TISA have achieved a high degree of success in gaining their diplomas, generally attaining a 100% pass rate and, moreover, our students have consistently scored above the IB world average within several subject areas.

The secondary staff members are a caring, highly-qualified and multicultural team, carefully selected for their ability to make a positive impact on student lives and learning. Learning Support, Pastoral Coordinators and Homeroom teachers are an integral part of the support team and they assist students with personal and academic issues, monitor individual welfare and academic progress and consult with teachers and parents when needs arise. The College Counseling programme ensures that students enroll on the appropriate graduation path and that both students and parents are supported through the complexities of the college application process.

We offer secondary students a wide variety of co-curricular activities including an active Community and Service programme, each designed to be inclusive and to help students develop individual interests, confidence and social skills.

Our students’ interests, both academic and social, are at the heart of everything we strive for at TISA.
