Congratulations to our HS Speech and Debate team members on their active participation during the CEESA HS Speech & Debate Tournament 2018 in Kyiv, Ukraine. TISA English Teacher Dianne Caskie and Library Resource Coordinator Jessica Lind share the highlights of the Competition.

Lara and Malak were truly inspirational. Having had three years of S&D/MUN combined with everything they have learned from MYP/DP I&S, TOK and Drama, they were ideally prepared for both the Duet Acting event and the Debate competition. They won first place in Duet Acting and gained a worthy third place in Debate!

Akshay and Benji fought hard but narrowly missed a place in the quarter finals for Debate. Please note that Benji replaced Sami as Akshay's debate partner with only 36 hours notice! Benji was praised by all who heard him and he got to final of Oral Interpretation of Literature with a David Sedaris monologue. His performance was wry, thoughtful and very amusing.

It was Jenna's first S&D competition, too, participating in Duet Acting and Original Oratory. She has returned with the ambition to make finals next year. Masha and Akanksha were prepared for Duet Acting and they were word perfect throughout the three rounds. Akanksha was very successful in entertaining her peers with her 'Decoding Parent Language' Original Oratory speech. Ask her about it! Masha was an amazing risk-taker and took on Impromptu as her second category. Zach's Original Oratory was clever and engaging and his Duet Acting piece with Jenna was intense.

Our TITANS looked after each other and made new friends from other CEESA schools. We are very proud of them!
