The TISA Titans Middle School Girls Football team travelled to participate in the MS Girls Football Tournament 2018 Riga, Latvia on November 2nd.
The team started the day off with an amazing 7 - 2 win against ISB. Their winning streak continued for the remainder of the day with a 4 - 0 victory against IICS and 3 - 0 against AAS. AAS were the team who beat us in the final last year in penalties. The girls were ecstatic after playing a day of amazingly entertaining football, pressing their opponents in their own halves.
On the second day of the tournament, we played two games back to back. We met ISL first beating them 4-0 followed by PSI with yet another victory 4-0 without conceding a single goal. This lead us to meet ISB in the final and yes, we did it, we are now CEESA Middle School Girls champions for the first time in TISA history.
Maytham Al-Rubaye, TISA Athletics Director and MS Girls Football coach mentioned about the teamwork demonstrated by the girls throughout the games:‘I’m so proud of the girls. They played beautiful football. Some families came to watch TISA girls play after hearing how great they were. They worked as a unit throughout the entire tournament. Every single girl did the job to perfection and gave no chance to the other teams to gain control, pressed them the entire game. They had most of the possession being cool headed and trusting one another.’
