Titans in Warsaw: Students` Ideas Have Already Been Made Into Action
ISTA Artist in Residence
Details
In November, we welcomed Fenella Kelly as an Artist in Residence from The International Schools Theatre Association (ISTA). Over three days, Fenella worked with DP students on the techniques of Rudolf Laban and Peter Brook, the Indian theatre tradition, Kathakali, whilst the M5s worked on the techniques of Bertolt Brecht and the M1-3 students spent a day devising and creating stories and soundscapes. The workshops were intense but a valuable learning experience and we hope that the students will be able to apply many of the skills they learnt to future assessment tasks and performances
Huge thanks to Fenella for spending time with us and sharing her expertise.
We were able to both have fun and learn academic theories whilst getting good exercise. This was the first time we were fully exposed to individual physical theatre and it will provide a pivotal experience for our HL Task.

My experience with Fenella Kelly was very positive. I learned many new things with her such as new aspects to physical theatre and learning the art of Kathakali. I really became in touch with my body and with what I want to do with it, and I felt myself come out of my shell and be less self conscious to make weird shapes with my body. I felt very inspired with what we learned that I was already thinking about how I can apply it to my future learning. The Kathakali workshop was also very helpful and I feel that without her guidance, I wouldn’t be able to make a research presentation as successful as I would with her expertise
